Northeast Georgia Food Bank Receives Grant
The Lake Burton Civic Association Board of Directors wants to thank its members for their recent donations to the "Food Bank Challenge". The challenge was put together by a small group of Lake Burton homeowners who are to be commended for their effort to create a $50,000 Challenge Grant which raised over $200,000 for the Northeast Georgia Food Bank. These funds will be designated for Rabun County residents only. Food banks around the country have been impacted by COVID-19 and the increased demand it has put on them.
LBCA members responded to the call by donating approximately $40,000, and the Lake Burton Civic Association Foundation donated $10,000 for a total of $50,000. Your donating did more than buy much needed food, it showed true support for the community. Wayne Knuckles, publisher of The Clayton Tribune, wrote an excellent editorial summarizing these efforts. He emphasized that multiple people and organizations came together to make this a true community fundraiser. Also, a letter to the editor was published from the LBCA regarding all of our ongoing charitable efforts.
Thanks again, LBCA Members, for your continued support of the Lake Burton Civic Association Foundation and the Rabun County community!
